# About

I am Vivek Narayanan. I build generative AI and agentic systems at Amazon, and I live in Austin, Texas, with my family.

I grew up in Delhi and Chennai, wrote my first programs in high school, and studied information technology in college. The summer after college, two friends and I built a fingerprint attendance system and sold it to a sugar factory in rural Andhra Pradesh.

My first jobs were writing software that touched millions of people. I joined Amazon in Bangalore in 2012 and built the marketing systems that send email and push notifications to Amazon customers. In 2019 I moved to Seattle to lead the forecasts that hundreds of Amazon retail teams plan against, and in 2022 I moved into Amazon Health. Since 2023 I have lived in Austin, and since 2024 I have been building generative AI and agentic systems in health care.
